GOP picks leaders
By Brad Shannon
Thurston County Republicans have elected a new chairman, local realty salesman Scott Roberts, in a bid to win back some political turf from the dominant county Democrats.
Roberts is replacing Dan Cathers, a one-term chairman who resigned because he wants to explore options as a candidate for an as-yet-unnamed public office.
Several other changes in the GOP leadership were approved over the weekend in the Republicans' two-year reorganization meeting in Olympia, but activists say they don't expect a major shift in ideology or direction with Roberts.
